Where Bloggers Create II Blog Party! Come see my creative space!

So, Welcome to my creative space. I have to be honest today and tell you that I have spent the last several days up to midnight last night organizing and trying to make everything as neat as possible. Nothing like the threat of public humiliation to get your hiney in gear, LOL. I really needed this "Where Bloggers Create" blog party to get me motivated.
Disorganization was getting pretty bad. All I want to do is get in there and start creating now that I can find everything again. I just hope I can keep things where they go now that I have made a spot for everything.
Now to show you a few of my favorite things. There in the center is one of my most favorite things, that gorgeous baby dress with the hand made lace panels, I had been looking for any baby dress for a while to make a fabric collage with and when I found this one I just fell in love, it is too special to alter so I had it put up.. Two weeks ago I found a little paper mache dress form with a wooden stand at a yard sale for  50 cents and brought it home, it never even occurred to me to put this baby dress on it till this week and it works perfectly. Under that dress is the altered baby shoe/pin cushion I made. On the table next to those are my blue glass jars, some antique, some 70's repros but I just love the turquoise color. Above those is my framed collage turned dry erase board and above that is my favorite shelf ever holding a few of my creations.
(Are we sensing that my favorite colors are Turquoise, faded vintage blue, rusty brown, and vintage cream?)
This is my great-grandpa's jewelers bench that I now use for crafting and holding supplies. The antique printers tray was one I drooled over for quite some time at my local flea market. It was $25 which was just more than I was willing to pay even though others at roughly the same size and age were going for upwards of $45. A few trips to the flea market later and it was marked down to $19, awe man! Still I didn't buy it thinking that the next time I went in, it would be gone. I didn't make it back for some time and one day on a whim I went in to browse around and what do I come up to but "my" printer's tray market down to $10! WOW! Okay now I have to concede that it was meant to be. I took it immediately to the counter and when I did I overheard a lady saying she was just bringing her husband from another booth to look at it.
See there, sometimes, rarely, but sometimes, good things come to those who wait. (Well except to that gal who waited to show her husband instead of using the snatch and grab technique I used, Tee-Hee.)
Now it holds lots of bits and baubles out in the open so I can use them.
I've got a thing for vintage jewelry boxes, you know the kind with the paper outside, the brass clasps on the front, and lined with satin. These hold my favorite baubles inside.
This one was just the right shade of blue but had a tear in the paper in the center, I fixed that by putting my blog header over it matted with a "Dreams" antique music sheet.
Over to the left is a counter with cabinet below and above. (Yes they are stuffed to the gills with art supplies, and no, there's NO WAY I would take a picture of those, LOL)
A quilt of my grandmothers that I recently inherited is draped over my chair.
I SOOOO have a thing for tattered pearls! The more tarnished, paint shipped and tattered they are the better. LOVE THEM! It's kind of ironic, I always hated pearls, don't know why, they just always seamed so stuffy to me, but now... My best friend crocheted a giant turquoise and brown flower for me which makes my dress form just lovely.
These are just a few of my favorite books and magazines. Although not near the whole of my bookshelf. Not even a scratch actually. These are just the ones that I happened to look at last. Although my Where Women Create Magazines and Cloth Paper Scissors Studios magazines aren't here, they are on my desk at work where I can escape into them while on break!
This is my great-grandmothers china cabinet. I've started putting a few pieces of artwork in there just to get them out of my way. Don't know that they will stay in there but we'll see. I love this cabinet though.

Well I hope you have enjoyed a look into my studio. Can't wait to visit everyone and see theirs!

  7. Love your space, you have a lot of cool things! My printer's tray is pretty small, but I love it. I wish I had some more vintage type jewels like yours! Isn't it funny how when we start a project, our space gets so messy! I struggle without much counter space, so stuff goes everywhere!
    Have a lovely weekend. :-)

  18. I am first because I started at the end of the alphabet...and you are one of the few ready, so congratulate yourself. I didn't even dare put mylsef on the list because I knew I wouldn't be done in time.

Your space is incredible. I love the baby dress and am so glad you didn't alter it. The dress for with pearls is wonderful...decoupaged, I think. I don't like pearls too much either but here they are perfect. I love the jeweler's bench you inherited (I covet it) and the quilt and adore how you put pretties in vintage jewelry boxes ...a pretty and homey touch! Also took a peek at other things on your blog...loved the hymnal winners and your "married love" pages.

We are three months old (in blog time) and are a mother daughter team. I didn't set the space cleaned but stop by sometime, if you wish.

  47. Well, for someone as talented at making jewelry as you - I think it is just awesome that you have your grandfather's jewelry table! I can just imagine all that has transpired from his hands and now yours.
And I agree - nothing like company coming to get it all pretty. Whew - that's over! Now you don't have to clean it up again for one year! :)
