Altered Vintage Baby Shoes Hmmm... & a giveaway info

 Altering an old baby shoe is really nothing new in the mixed media and altered art world but I have been wanting to do this for some time but hadn't found the right shoes. On my last post I showed a pair of baby shoes I found at the flea market this week and I want to show you what I did with them.

This one I brushed gel medium onto different sections of the shoe and glue tiny pieces of a hymnal page. I added lace, some vintage millinery shell flowers, an antique shoe buckle (appropriate no?) and added some bling. I stuffed the shoe and used 100% wool on top to make a pin cushion. I love the cream monotones of this one.

Staying true to myself and my love of turquoise and brown or cream I made this pin cushion just for me. I painted over the whole shoe with white acrylic paint  then quickly rubbed most of it off with a paper towel. I added the lace, some stick on pearls, a vintage metal button, and a brass charm (on that charm is a piece of the hymnal titles that I offered a few posts ago, I'm having a CONTEST with prizes to see what YOU can make of these so go check that out)

Now for some more altered vintage baby shoe inspiration from across the web. Please go check out their websites...

Isn't this baby shoe adorable?! I love all those muted colors and the functionality of it.

Hi Thespa. I just came over from Auntie Cakes and I'm glad I didn't miss your site. I love your blog. It's so pretty.

Those baby shoes are so wonderful. I love the baby shoe pincushions. I've had one for awhile but can't get the guts up to try to do it. I'm too afraid I'll mess it up. The little witch one is just too cute and different. I really like that. Thanks for sharing. I'll be following from now on and hope to become good friends.

Have a fun holiday weekend. Hugs...Tracy :)

Okay, I so need the Halloween baby shoe for my Halloween decorations. I love how it hangs, I am running out of vertical space to put things on. I have a flea market here this weekend. I am going to be on the lookout for a black baby shoe. Thanks for sharing.

And have you ever used heavy gel medium? I got some last week and it is so hard, I can't even get any out. I am wondering if it was old when I got it. I do love gel medium though, I am finding loads of uses for it. I have no clue if I am using it the correct way, but I haven't managed to break anything yet...

Have a great Memorial Day weekend. I can't wait, my kids are all leaving for the farm. Three days with just me and the fireman. Just wish my house was clean!

'K, now, those are just too stinkin' cute! Is it just me, or is there something about the sight of baby shoes & the smell of baby powder that makes your uterus just twitch in anticipation?
{getting too old for those twitches! *LOL*}

BTW...Thanks for stopping by my blog the other day & leaving me some love...noticed that you're following me, too ~ VERY COOL!
