I found it! "THE" book for my journal.

I've been keeping an eye out for a while for an old book to use for a journal. I've planned to use tinted pages, or painted and sewn pages inside to write on, but I wanted to find a book with a unique cover to incorporate into my journal. Today I found "THE" book I've been searching for...

This is an 1899 copy of "Autocrat of the Breakfast Table" It measures 4 1/4" x 6 1/2" and has the most wonderful patina. The background color is my most favorite of all colors, aged turquoise. The flowers on the cover are embossed and have gold leaf around the edges. It's even got some pretty little butterflies on it. The spine is gorgeous too, it has pretty flowers from top to bottom. I'm so thrilled to have found this book. It's so much better in person, the scan just doesn't do it justice.  It was $12.95 which is much more than what I am usually willing to pay for and old book but I just couldn't pass up "MY" journal.
I also found some really cute old hand painted mirror place cards. Some of the silver on the backs of the mirrors are tarnished but that just adds to their charm.

AND... I've found a vintage dress form! YEAH! My co-workers mom  has one she is selling and I'm going to buy it. I'll post pics after I get it altered and set up.

Here's to finding what you are looking for!

Beautiful book!

And hooray for the universe! I did the same thing last week, I thought to myself 'wouldn't it be great to have a serger?' so I looked on eBay. There was only ONE machine near my price range, and it was in the same town as me! I live in the country so that's high odds. What's more it's industrial which means I can't wreck it with leather, and they're delivering it for free. Talk about 'ask and ye shall receive'...the universe is listening!

I have some VERY Exciting news to share soon. Can't wait to spill the beans!
