Well friends, I survived an earthquake and didn't even know it till later. We had ourselves a little earthquake in NW Arkansas yesterday. Strange, not a very common thing.
Magnitude 2.5 with the center not far from where I live and work. Good thing it was so small.

People in California would probably laugh at how some people have reacted to it. On the other hand we have a tornado watch in effect till 8pm tonight and that would probably freak them out, LOL. Looks to be clearing up a bit.

How far from Hot Springs Village are you? We have family living there and will be visiting this year. I am in California and agree 2.5? Be safe.
The exact thing happened a couple of years ago in GA. My five year old had heard that Calif. had had an earthquake and she asked if Georgia ever had earthquakes. I assured her "No, sweety, we don't have them here" The very next evening I was headed to bed when I heard my crystals on my lusters starting to shake. She came screaming into my bedroom "Nana, I thought you said there are no earthquakes here!!!" I had to laugh and told her Nana's can be wrong sometimes. It is at least a good topic of discussion for the next few days. I am glad you are all okay. My brother lives in Springdale, AK.

Thespa, You're probably on the New Madrid fault line there. It goes up through the center of the country. In an earthquake either at the beginning of the 20th century or the end of the 19th there was a huge quake there that even changed the course of the Mississippi River for awhile!
I don't know where you can find info on it but there must be something on Google about that fault.
Anyway....Yikes!
