Today I wasn't feeling well, I've been running a low fever for a few days now and today all my energy has drained out through the floor, but I got up and went to work anyway, time was dragging along, went to lunch and didn't feel like eating anything so I went by one of my favorite thrift stores, The Women's Shelter Thrift Store. There they were having a 50% off sale on their dolls. There were many pretty porcelain dolls all shiny and beautiful in their pretty dresses and perfectly curled hair but this pretty girl caught my eye and brightened my day.
Was it the crackled face and legs, or the old aged fabric body, or the large size of her? All I think.
She was marked $3 so I paid $1.50 for her and carried her around cradled in my arms.
I am not a doll collector but this little baby pulled at my heartstrings. A collector probably would have passed her by as she's been repaired, repainted on some parts, and she has been re stuffed so she smells very nice.
She's been loved and played with you can tell. I adore her sweet aged face and I love her even if she has no arms. So I plan to make her some clothes (eventually) and I think she needs a name.
Something cute, vintage, and pretty just like her.
Can you suggest a name, or three?

Best name may get a little surprise!
Hope you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
P.S. Still waiting to share exciting news with you.

To me she looks like a sweet Violet, a little bit shy, a little bit bewildered, like the little violet flowers, which are so dainty and easily bruised.
She looks like a Lucy to me. Nice find.

Awww...she is so sweet and well loved. The first name that popped into my head was Annie. :) Feel better!

Okay now I am showing my age. But I would name her Charlotte. There is an old movie called "Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte" with Betty Davis and Joan Crawford. I could see this doll being held by Betty Davis's character.
I think her name should be JOY for that is the gift she gave to YOU! Hope you get to feeling better! Have a Happy Thanksgiving. HUGS!

I just love old dolls...how about Emma Grace? Emma (german origin)which means all-embracing. And Grace (latin origin)means favor or blessing? I love both the names. They are both old names but I find them fitting for an old doll. Don't you?:)
I hope you will feel better soon.
Blessings and prayers are sent your way.
Hugs,
Sonya
I'd name her Grace, because she surely still has some.
She's just beautiful, I would have been thrilled to find her also......:)
Happy day for you!
Since she is a vintage doll and kinda reminds me of a baby Darla. I guess the little rascals popped into my head.
While reading your post and looking into your doll's eyes I can only think of her name being "Happy". For the fact that you loved her enough to give her a good home and for the season of Happy Thanksgiving and she is definitely giving thanks for you finding her. How precious she is. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours...
Ok, I thought this post was going to lead to some different baby news.... Combined with your happy surprise and all...
I think she needs to be named Cordelia. Don't know why, and that doesn't really sound like a baby name, but a girl has gotta grow up sometime!
When I saw your sweet baby, I thought," Annabelle". I don't know why, it just poped into my head. She's a beauty.
I think she should be named Marni. I was also thinking Goldie.

So sorry your not feeling well, I do hope it passes soon.
Gosh a lot of great names so far,
how about "Sweet Baby Jane" or Darla because shes so darling!
Great find! She looks like a Deryl to me.
Thanks for stopping by and entering my giveaway! Good luck!
Hope you are feeling better very soon!
She almost certainly looks like a Genevieve to me. It's a beautiful, vintage, name that suits her elegance so well.
She would have been my pick over the fancy ones too. I think she looks like an Abigail, don't you?
She is a sweetheart ! How about Addie Belle ? That was my Great Grandmothers name. I just love it ! :) Happy Thanksgiving !!!!
Oh, and I hope you feel better soon !!! :)
Thespa, I know what you mean! Sometimes against all reason something calls our name!
I think the little girl needs to be called Little Miss Lost but Found.
Hugs,
Diane
She looks like my Oma Eugenie.
A timeless name; there's a young Princess Eugenie of England.
Maybe a Oma Caroline, that was my mother's name and everyone loved her.
I would like to thank you for sharing your stocking tutorial. I found you through one of my best friends, Charlene. I will be back to go through all this blog. It looks so interesting.
Hugs, Pat
oh, I love her and see why you do too. Good find. Love your post. Sorry you are under the weather. Get well soon my friend.
First name that pops in my head is Em. Not sure why, just speaks to me. I love when others love dolls too, the ones that touch hearts.

Poor baby - hope she gets some arms soon. My Mamma used to make porcelain dolls and it always bothered me when they were in progress, ie, no limbs.
