So I had decided to build a new studio out of shipping pallets. We have some nice 4 foot by 8 foot sturdy pallets at work and I have seen lots of great pallet buildings posted on the web, I even blogged about it on my studio inspiration blog...
This weekend we made excellent progress, we got the footings poured and the floor all finished. (I'll post pics tomorrow. Then we took a break.
And when we came out to raise the first wall my husband stepped off the floor into the footing hole and broke his ankle. We spent the second half of yesterday at the emergency room getting xrays and pain pills and we'll have to call the orthopedic surgeon today to set up an appointment.
He broke the end of the fibula completely off and separated ligaments from bones, had he just broken the bone he would be in a cast for 4 weeks but since the ligaments were torn he will have to have surgery and plates and pins put in.
My poor husband.
*My "nearly free" studio just got a LOT more expensive.*

oh, thats terrible!!!
So sorry to hear that.
When health becomes a priority everything else must wait.Take good care of him, you'll need him to finish the job and maybe pay him as well...haha.
Oh dear I am so sorry to hear of your husbands plight. May he have a full and speedy recovery. All in the name of creativity...
Thespa, that is terrible! I hope he isn't in pain, that he doesnt' have to take too much time off of work and that your hospital bills aren't too bad. Sorry to hear that, what a bummer. I know you will be taking good care of that guy!

Poor guy, I hope he is doing better by now.
I look forward to seeing the studio when it is done, what a cool idea for building supplies.
