I've been so much helped by kind words and new friendships this past week, I want to say thank you so much to everyone who has helped me through.
Poem from 1902 book "Heap O' Livin"
"Be a Friend"
Be a friend. You don't need money;
Just a disposition sunny;
Just the wish to help another
Get along some way or other;
Just a kindly hand extended
Out to one who's unbefriended;
Just the will to give or lend,
This will make you someone's friend.
Be a friend. You don't need glory.
Friendship is a simple story.
Pass by trifling errors blindly,
Gaze on honest effort kindly,
Cheer the youth who's bravely trying,
Pity him who's sadly sighing;
Just a little labor spend
On the duties of a friend.
Be a friend. The pay is bigger
(Though not written by a figure)
Than is earned by people clever
In what's merely self-endeavor.
You'll have friends instead of neighbors
For the profits of your labors;
You'll be richer in the end
Than a prince, if you're a friend.
Have a happy day!

Wonderful, wonderful poem. I love poetry and this one is a real keeper...close to the heart.
Thanks for sharing,
Tess
I am going to make one of those memory boards. That is a really neat and wonderful idea. Come check out the wreaths I used to make and sell. It is one of those timeless pieces, cause I have had it hanging in my house since 1995.
I sometimes pop in at your blog and take a look at your findings, always something interesting to look at. Thank you so much for sharing this poem :)
What a lovely poem. If you don't mind, I'd love to pass that on to a few people.
